History

A palace in the heart of the city

The historic building of the former Leipzig Palace was constructed in 1874 as the family residence of banker Ignatz Leipziger. The architect of the palace was Carl Schmidt, who also designed Liebich Hill (now Partisan Hill) and the City Theater (today's Opera).

In later years, the owner sold the building to the city - before World War II, it served as a bank and municipal institutions, and after 1945, offices were located there.

From the beginning, Leipziger Palace was an exceptionally prestigious place – its decoration included a grand staircase with ornate railings, Carrara marbles, columns, and stucco work. Both the stunning lobby and the beautiful ballroom, as well as the original marbled stuccos, have been meticulously restored and can now be admired by guests of the Altus Palace Hotel.

The place is perfect, it's like staying at your friends, who own beautifly renovated palace!
It's a wonderful hotel and for the first time: I liked everything. Beauty of the place, an old palace on the edge of the cute park next to the moat, along which you can have an amazing walks. Walking distance to the Old Town. Amazing dedication of the staff members, nothing is too much. The are the best! Wonderful design of the whole place, palace charm mixed with art deco and a modern touch. My room was beautifly decorated and huge yet somehow very cosy and it didnt have the usual hotel-like feeling which is a huge complement. It was like staying at your friends place, who own beautifly renovated palace. Great breakfast, lots of choices. Michelin restaurant at the premises. SPA facilities in the cellars. Pretty close to the train station. Tram stop nearby. Everything was just perfect. I certainly will be back!!!

Perfect stay! Lives up to 5 star service.
On arrival we were greeted with lovely reception staff and offered a welcome drink. Arrived 3 hours early before we were due to check in and our room was already available which was a big bonus after having an early flight. The hotel is in a great location and so handy for the main square. There is a tram stop right outside though however we just walked everywhere. The hotel itself is beautiful inside with very modern and stylish decor. Breakfast was a big plus and had so many options to choose from. Really can't fault this hotel at all. For light sleepers might be best to ask for a room at the back of the hotel as the trams can be a bit noisy but this didn't affect our stay or sleep in the slightest. Overall it's been a perfect stay and we're currently looking at coming back in the summer. Thanks for a great stay.
